By this I dont mean that Id wonder what people have in their bags on the streets or in the shop, but if I bump into a friend of mine, I might ask what he/she got :) Go ahead, tell me Im strange. :)

There you go! As said, groceries aint too cheap around this neck of the woods and I kinda splurged on the Whitefish - which I probably could have gotten cheaper somewhere else, "special" sodapop, crisps and so. It also contains stuff for several days, here's what I've got planned: the lasagna powder for a quick meal next week (I already have the rest), crisps for movie night, cold smoked salmon for pasta sauce tomorrow + whats left over - on rye bread. Carelian pastries and whitefish for todays after sauna indulgence and the rest for sandwiches, salads and breakfast/snacks and a few instant noodles as a plan B for a quick snack/meal.

Picture of the Char grilled whitefish, unfortunately the tail broke off in the shopping bag, so looks a bit stunted...

The two soda pop bottles, local brand from Laitila breweries, Retro style lemonade and cola. I kinda like them, not as sweet as coke and taste quite fresh.

Tradition Finnish (after oven) Rye bread, meaning the bread was baked "after firing the oven", thus long and steady in lower heat. 11% Fiber and quite potent rye flavor thus yummy and good for ya.

There you go, wanna see similar stuff again? Leave me comment, as I really enjoyed writing this!

You know what, JT? I really enjoyed reading what you really enjoyed writing! The full post about food, including the beautiful photos (good enough for a gourmet magazine) was just very interesting. I've never seen a whitefish! Your menu planning is very organized and healthy. I love salmon so much and the commercial salmon fishing season along the Pacific Coast from Oregon to Baja has been shut down because of dwindling fish. They hope this will give the salmon a chance to come back. It's terrible for everyone who loves salmon like I do, and terrible for the little coastal communities where the fishermen live and where the restaurants are that attract tourists. Wish us luck or say a prayer when you think of the salmon plight here.

I have heard of the salmon plight before, as a friend of mine lives on the west coast of Canada, where the situation seems quite grim too. Not that it would all that great here either, but salmon is very common on Finnish menus and stores - sadly nowadays wild salmon seems to be quite rare and pricy!

Whitefish is one of my favs, fun to fish too! Especially gravad (or raw, "salt cured") whitefish, do give the fish a try, should you bump into it somewhere or happen to visit Finland!

Im glad you like me photos, being a student I dont have the time or money to really take photos, but I do my best and hopefully get to post my humble pics on this blog later on!

Huh, who lied to us that we are the cheapest country in Europe...Some things here are more expensive than in Finland...Some are not, of course ...But most of the things are on the same prices.
Just a little question - what is the minimal salary?I guess it is not like ours, hoho. With our minimal salary you can by just twice all these things in the list...

Minimum wage, well it depends on on field one works in and how many hours one does, as far as I know most unions have negotiated their own minumums. I couldn't really find any, but I found a suggestion which would end up in around 950 per month, minus taxes. Which is quite little with current housing costs and what not. However I couldn't verify this, so...but I recon that would be close to the truth.
