Moi!

Hi there readers!

I've been collecting a few articles off local tabloids and news papers, articles I was planning on discussing here on the blog. But lo and behold...I cant find them. Annoying, since just a few days back I was doing some cleaning as well as fumbling around with some furniture, which actually worked out pretty well. While it didnt change the look of my living room drastically, it definately looks more spacy and...uh...well more organized. :) Must have stashed my pinched articles somewhere safe OR chucked them into the grabage without noticing.

Anyhow, one of the articles was on rising food prices, while Im quite sure this is somewhat of a problem in other countries as well, this article was particulary interesting as it had food prices compared between Finland, Estonia and Germany. Now I cant remember exact differences but they were quite surprising. Finland was ofcourse the most expensive. While I do understand that some of the prices come from having to ship stuff here, perhaps moreso than to Estonia or Germany, as they're kinda closer to mainland Europe. The thing is that quite often when buying cucumber, a locally grown cucumber might be up to 3 times or so more expensive than say, one shipped in from..Spain. I know I know, it's quite a hassle to grow cuces here during the winter but anyway, as this isn't the only foodstuff with the such a strange ratio.

Anyway, the other thing I was kinda planning on mentioning is apartment sizes. Now, the thing is that I cant really say for sure, as I havn't "lived" outside finland. But often it seems that, people moving in say that apartments are rather small. Now Im not saying they ALL are miniscule showboxes. Anyone with more knowldge care to comment on this? Ex. I live in a 40m2 flat, a friend of mine lives in a 50m2 and a third lives in a 22m2 flat etc...while I think 50m2 is quite ample of a space for 1, it's ok for two, 40 is borderish for 2 and 22m2 works ok for one, if the space is wisely used.

Oh yah, and I have a few juicy links for ya,
First of all (have I linked to this before?) 6 Degrees is nice magazine to grab a gander at. Ex. see the mökki article in the starters section.

Aaaand the other one is an online store with finnish products online..Quite a wide range of stuff!

Till next time,
Cheers!

My grandparents grow kurkkut ja tomaati, so I can send you some free :P If they survive the trip. I guess ours are the same or better than Spanish .
So for apartments here...All are expensive, huh ;) We have lived like 5 people on 104 sqm, 3 people on 50 and now we are 2 on 30 sqm. And oh my favourite university campus - in a room of about 16 sqm - 3 people, hohoho. After surviving 2 years in the university campus, there is no apartment that I could call small :)
